Captain Brendon Taylor believes the series against Afghanistan demands the full attention of his side, even if there is a temptation to look beyond it to upcoming tours by South Africa and Australia.
The tour, Afghanistan’s first of an ICC Full Member, will be used as preparation for the World Cup, while Zimbabwe is preparing to host their more seasoned opponents.
Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have never met in international cricket – and this months maiden ODI series will bring plenty of opportunity to increase the distance from Ireland and gain ground on Bangladesh in the ICC rankings.

The first ODI is on today (18 July), second on Sunday, third on the 22nd and the last on the 24th. They will all be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
