Lausanne, Switzerland – The International Boxing Association (IBA) has secured its budget for the upcoming 4-year cycle that allows the organization to have no barriers towards implementing all ambitious projects planned. This includes IBA’s events portfolio, prize money fund, Financial Support Program (FSP) and various development initiatives.   
 
The IBA continues to be the Home of Boxing for five Confederations, with nearly 200 National Federations and thousands of boxers, coaches, and officials from around the globe. The organization does not prevent anyone from participating in the Olympic Games or Olympic qualification events and welcomes all boxers and officials to IBA’s events regardless of their National Federation status.    ​

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe was elected for a third term at the 54th World Athletics Congress in Budapest on Thursday (17).

Ximena Restrepo was re-elected as a Vice President and will be joined by newly elected Vice Presidents Raul Chapado, Adille Sumariwalla and Jackson Tuwei.

A total of 192 voting members of Congress voted for Coe and three abstained. Under the World Athletics Constitution, this will be Coe’s final term as President.

Lausanne, Switzerland - A dynamic risk assessment and a carefully thought-out long-term plan should be considered by those National Federations before they make any irreversible membership decisions. IBA does not accept dual membership, which is a crucial choice for each entity and requires a pragmatic approach.
The recent example set by the Dutch Boxing Federation, which is currently a suspended IBA member, demonstrates that this organization understands and acknowledges all uncertainties of the possible breakup with the IBA. On the other side, there are zero competitions, zero predicted financial support from above, and zero proof of so called “good governance principles” that are being loosely communicated.

The eighth edition of the KGL Millennium Marathon is coming on live in Accra on Saturday, September 2, 2023 after the impressive launch last Thursday at the Base Lounge at Cantonment in Accra.

Despite their various challenges, youth show lower rates of political engagement than their elders across a variety of indicators

World Athletics adopts new rules for Athletes’ Representatives and Safeguarding

World Athletics will introduce a centralised licensing system for Athletes’ Representatives from 1 September 2023 after the regulatory framework was approved by the World Athletics Council this week.

The new system will set global minimum standards for becoming an Athletes’ Representative (AR) and maintaining a licence to act on behalf of athletes for any competition.

Under the new system, Member Federations (MFs) will not be permitted to regulate World Athletics ARs or charge any fees to them. If MFs wish to implement a framework to regulate ARs, they will only be permitted to regulate matters falling within their national jurisdiction but must meet the minimum standards of the World Athletics framework.
