Africa Sports Ventures Group Country Director Mr. Gy Cabral launched the 2023/24 Edition of the Africa High Schools Basketball Showcase with a basketball fundamentals summer training camp to get the kids ready for a more engaging schools year that will see one of the schools represent the Island of Cape Verde at the Continental Showcase against 11 other Countries in Accra Ghana on February/March of next year.
As member country teams with the Africa Sports Ventures Groups’ Project 144 High Schools Basketball Showcase program prep up for the 2023/24 season, the Cameroonian Team led by Christian Henri Belle paid a courtesy visit to the nations Director of School Sports with the Ministry of Sports for a number of reasons.
Project Director for Africa Sports Ventures Group’s Project 144 High School Basketball Showcase in Nigeria Mr. Abayomi Ajowele took the initiative to create a stable environment for the showcase with the renovation of his former High School Basketball Courts by soliciting funds from fellow alumni to not just provide a better facility for the school’s team but for the facility to become the home and host of the annual ASVG Project 144 Tournament and an eventual host for the continental showcase when the event eventually moves to Lagos, Nigeria.

The CEO of NBA Africa Victor Williams and his wife Mrs. Memuna Williams, who are both originally from Sierra Leone, welcomed and offered encouragement to Sierra Leone’s lone basketball star in last season's Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sitah Conteh, who currently plays for the Cape Town Tigers, and Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa camper from Freetown, Sheriffa Rahman, in Johannesburg, South Africa where the BWB Africa camp was held in late July 2023. It marked the 19th time the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach program was held on the continent.
Lausanne, Switzerland – The International Boxing Association (IBA) has secured its budget for the upcoming 4-year cycle that allows the organization to have no barriers towards implementing all ambitious projects planned. This includes IBA’s events portfolio, prize money fund, Financial Support Program (FSP) and various development initiatives.
The IBA continues to be the Home of Boxing for five Confederations, with nearly 200 National Federations and thousands of boxers, coaches, and officials from around the globe. The organization does not prevent anyone from participating in the Olympic Games or Olympic qualification events and welcomes all boxers and officials to IBA’s events regardless of their National Federation status.

Increased investment in competition, events and development paid dividends in 2022 while cash remained strong and like-for-like revenues increased, the World Athletics Congress was told today when the 2022 Annual Report and Accounts were presented.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe was elected for a third term at the 54th World Athletics Congress in Budapest on Thursday (17).
Ximena Restrepo was re-elected as a Vice President and will be joined by newly elected Vice Presidents Raul Chapado, Adille Sumariwalla and Jackson Tuwei. A total of 192 voting members of Congress voted for Coe and three abstained. Under the World Athletics Constitution, this will be Coe’s final term as President. 
World Athletics and Deloitte today (17) announced a new global partnership to support and accelerate the digital transformation and innovation needs of World Athletics over the next six years.
Deloitte, the world’s largest management consulting firm, will provide a wide range of digital consulting services and sports operations and platforms to World Athletics and the World Athletics Series events from 1 January 2024 until 31 December 2029. This partnership builds on the strength of the existing relationship between World Athletics and Deloitte and will develop synergies with Deloitte’s recent IOC TOP Partnership. 
Lausanne, Switzerland - A dynamic risk assessment and a carefully thought-out long-term plan should be considered by those National Federations before they make any irreversible membership decisions. IBA does not accept dual membership, which is a crucial choice for each entity and requires a pragmatic approach.
The recent example set by the Dutch Boxing Federation, which is currently a suspended IBA member, demonstrates that this organization understands and acknowledges all uncertainties of the possible breakup with the IBA. On the other side, there are zero competitions, zero predicted financial support from above, and zero proof of so called “good governance principles” that are being loosely communicated.

Despite their various challenges, youth show lower rates of political engagement than their elders across a variety of indicators

World Athletics will introduce a centralised licensing system for Athletes’ Representatives from 1 September 2023 after the regulatory framework was approved by the World Athletics Council this week.
The new system will set global minimum standards for becoming an Athletes’ Representative (AR) and maintaining a licence to act on behalf of athletes for any competition. Under the new system, Member Federations (MFs) will not be permitted to regulate World Athletics ARs or charge any fees to them. If MFs wish to implement a framework to regulate ARs, they will only be permitted to regulate matters falling within their national jurisdiction but must meet the minimum standards of the World Athletics framework.
