Passing the baton: Rio 2016 Organizing Committee presents Marvelous Games in the Marvelous City, as Tokyo 2020 looks to the future
Three months after the marvellous Olympic Games Rio 2016, the Rio organisers were in the future host city of Tokyo this week to pass on their experiences. Representatives of the Tokyo 2020, PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Organising Committees and the 2024 Candidate Cities were also there to listen, as well as to learn the lessons from their experiences. Reflecting on outstanding sport, a unique journey and a strong legacy for the city and country, the Rio 2016 team generously shared their knowledge and experience of an event that will allow the Olympic Movement to build on its momentum. Tokyo 2020 organisers were able to benefit from this significant exchange of information to clarify their plans, as they look to the future and 2020.

FINA has announced its official partnership with Nikon Corporation for the upcoming 13th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) that is to be held from 6th to 11th December 2016, in Windsor, Canada.

Zimbabwe fast bowler Brian Vitori has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during the final of the tri-series in Bulawayo on Sunday which Sri Lanka won by six wickets.
The Match Officials’ Report, which was handed over to the Zimbabwe management, cited concerns about the legality of the 26-year-old’s bowling action during the course of the match.

NEW YORK (November 30, 2016) – In a continued effort to advance its youth development efforts, Major League Soccer today announced key initiatives in collaboration with Canada Soccer including a joint MLS and CSA taskforce to focus on advancement of youth development in Canada and expansion of the Generation adidas program to Canada. In addition, MLS, Canada Soccer, and U.S. Soccer have agreed to modify the parameters that determine a player’s international status on both U.S.-based and Canadian-based MLS club rosters.

Striker Desire Oparanozie scored the only goal of the match on 54 minutes to ensure a repeat of the 2014 final in Windhoek, Namibia, which Nigeria won 2-0 for their seventh title.

Excitement has gathered pace for the FIFA Confederations Cup as the Official Draw was made on Saturday, held at the Kazan Tennis Academy.
Assisted by two-time Olympic gold medallist Yelena Isinbaeva and five-time Russian Premier League winner Sergey Semak, the draw ceremony revealed who will face who and at which venues in the group phase of the Tournament of Champions, which takes place in Russia from 17 June-2 July 2017.

29 November 2016 – South Africa lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the semi-final of the 2016 Edition of the CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations on Tuesday in Limbe, Cameroon as the defending champions set up a final clash with the hosts Cameroon who earlier beat Ghana by the same scoreline.
Ghana’s Black Queens have dashed their hopes of winning the 2016 African Women’s Championship (AWC) after they were beaten by home team, Cameroun with a lone goal in an exciting game watched by an ecstatic crowd who wanted nothing but victory.
The Queens who drew with favourites Nigeria beat Mali in the competition.
