MIES (Switzerland) - There were 63 applications for the Basketball Champions League season 2023-24, with the Regular Season seeing 32 teams once again. The Basketball Champions League Board met on Tuesday, June 27 and confirmed the names of the teams already through to the Regular Season, as well as the 24 members of the Qualification Rounds, fighting for the remaining tickets.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the schedule for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at a ‘Countdown to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023’ event in Mumbai.
Ten teams feature in what will be the biggest Cricket World Cup ever, to be played across 10 venues from 5 October to 19 November, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the tournament opener and the final.

Ireland have been fined 40 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Sri Lanka in their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier match in Bulawayo on Sunday.Shaid Wadvalla of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Ireland were ruled to be two overs short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
Umpire Chris Gaffaney will stand in his 50th men’s cricket Test match during the second Test between England and Australia at Lord’s from Wednesday.Gaffaney will become only the second New Zealand umpire to reach the half-century mark after Billy Bowden, who stood in 84 Tests.
Gaffaney has also officiated in 77 ODIs and 43 T20Is and was part of the panels that officiated in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy in 2017, the Men’s Cricket World Cups in 2015 and 2019, as well as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cups in 2016, 2021 and 2022. 
NEW YORK (Monday, June 26, 2023) – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Ryan Gauld was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire for Matchday 21 of the 2023 MLS season.
Gauld contributed to all three goals (one goal, two assists) in the club’s 3-2 road win over LAFC at BMO Stadium on Saturday, June 24. The Scottish midfielder became the eighth player this season with at least one goal and two assists in a match, and the first Vancouver player to do so since Yordy Reyna on July 28, 2018. With his two assists, Gauld (19) passed Reyna (17) for the third-most assists in Whitecaps history. Gauld has now produced at least four goals and four assists in each of the last three seasons, joining only seven other players in the league to accomplish the feat.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Trophy Tour has begun in spectacular style, launching 120,000 feet above the Earth, before landing in the largest cricket stadium in the world, India’s Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The feat was achieved with the World Cup Trophy attached to a bespoke stratospheric balloon. The stunning shots of the famous silverware sitting on the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere were captured with 4K cameras. The balloon crossed more than 99.5% of the Earth’s atmosphere with the temperature of -65°C at the peak altitude.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi (Capital of Ashanti) dubbed the Garden City will host the next edition of the GNPC Ghana Fastest Human on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
If Tamale and Cape Coast editions were excellent and exciting, then the Kumasi meet will certainly pull the best athletes and spectators. As Ghana gets preparing to host the 13th African Games, all sports disciplines have taken upon themselves the need to train and win at home. The Ghana Athletics Association and organizers of the Ghana Fastest Human also want to sweep most of the medals next year, and the Kumasi meet is part of the rehearsal. 
Michael Naba of the Accra based FCG Cycling Club on Sunday, won the first position, Ghana Jersey and gold medal in the 2023 National Cycling Championship held at Ho the capital of the Volta Region.
The two-day cycling event which is part of qualifications marked for the upcoming Accra2023 Africa Games and Paris 2024 Olympic Games in France was a high attraction in the region.

Logan van Beek’s super over heroics led Netherlands to a famous win over West Indies, who suffered their second consecutive ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 defeat.
Van Beek struck 30 with the bat before taking the ball and conceding just eight, leading his side to a victory which saw them finish second in Group A and take two valuable points into the Super Six stage. Elsewhere, Sean Williams’ swashbuckling 174 helped Zimbabwe maintain their 100 per cent record as they beat USA by 304 runs. |
