The provisional entry list for the IAAF World Championships London 2017, which take place from 4-13 August in the British capital, is now available.
​
The entries, as at 29 July, are now available via the athletes page on the IAAF World Championships London 2017 mini-site where users can quickly search and browse all 2034 athletes from more than 200 teams entered in the 16th edition of the IAAF's flagship event. The lists are also available to download as PDF documents listing entries by event and season's best [download | view] and entries by event [download | view].

Sri Lanka Cricket secures Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola will serve as the official carbonated beverage partner of the Sri Lankan cricket team until early 2020. The deal will see the soft drink company being sold at venues throughout the country during all inbound international tours and home matches.

Sri Lanka are currently competing in a three-game Test series at home to India. The first five-day match is currently being played in Galle, while the final two fixtures will be staged in Colombo and Balagolla.

The national volleyball team ‘Black Spikers’ went to Niger for world cup qualification in the West Africa zone and eventually became victors in the zone.

Before they embarked to Niger,the Sports Ministry gave them $5,000 (five thousand dollars) which were used to pay the participation fee, feeding and the hotel bills .

As part of the 2017 MLS All-Star week, MLS WORKS – Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative – and the Chicago Fire will host an All-Star Community Day at Gage Park.  MLS All-Stars will join MLS WORKS, the Chicago Fire, the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) in unveiling two new mini-pitches.  The mini-pitches will provide a safe and accessible place to play, while supporting local youth programming, including the Chicago Fire’s P.L.A.Y.S. Program. Additionally, SNHU will award a full college scholarship to a deserving member of the local community as part of the dedication ceremony.

​Former Rwanda forward Olivier Karekezi has been appointed head coach of current champions, Rayon Sports on a two-year deal.
 
The 34-year old, revered at giants APR, will contrastingly cut his coaching teeth at bitterest rivals, Rayon, replacing Djuma Masudi, who resigned shortly after guiding the capital-based club to the league crown last season.

​A late burst from Zambia saw them collect gold at the 2017 COSAFA Under-17 Championships as they beat hosts Mauritius 3-0 in the final in Port Louis on Sunday.  It took Zambia until the 72nd minute to make the breakthrough, but once they did they took full control of the game to earn their first COSAFA Under-17 Championship title.
 
The match was an even affair with both teams having chances in the opening half, but it took a moment of magic from Prince Mumba to break the deadlock as he rifled home a 30-yard shot that left the Mauritius keeper with no chance.

​Arriving in hands of medallists from the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), the Queen’s Baton received a welcome of champions in the prettiest of north Atlantic islands.

The tiny and boutique island chain of Bermuda has a reputation for punching well above its weight, in both the able-bodied and para-sport arenas. But never has it sent a more successful team to a major international, multi-sport event than the recent CYG in the Bahamas. In five days of competition against 1,300 young elite athletes, the team brought home to ‘da rock’ three bronze and one gold – its first medals in 17 years of CYG.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair from the onset, with both the Kazakhs and the Indians determined to get the lone promotion ticket to Division A. Leads exchanged a handful of times in the first period before Kazakhstan hit their stride in the second quarter, outscoring India, 20-15, to take an 8-point lead to the halftime break.
