Stellenbosch University and Tennis South Africa (TSA) have announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement, with the aim of developing a new world class national tennis centre at the University.
The project, which is currently in the early planning stages, will operate on a co-funding basis and will see the new tennis centre:

Bidco Africa has been unveiled as the new co-sponsors of Shujaa (Kenya national rugby sevens team), for the next three years.

The protection of clean athletes and the fight against doping are top priorities for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as outlined in Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC's strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. Following the findings of the completed Independent Person Report in December 2016, the IOC has examined all samples collected from Russian athletes during the Olympic Games London 2012. These re-analyses and subsequent disciplinary hearings are now over.
Sport Industry Group today hosted its first ever Sport Industry Breakfast Club at Country Club Johannesburg, in Woodmead.
The Breakfast Club is designed to connect the business of sport as we discuss key matters and challenging facing the industry. Today’s session saw the topical attention turn to “Big Events and the effect on the country and role in the economy”. From 1995 to 2010, South Africa enjoyed a consistent run of big international events which helped profile the country and drove the sport industry. However, subsequent to this, these have dried up.
During its Bureau Meeting held today in Sanya (CHN), FINA approved a new programme directly aimed at supporting National Federations, through the distribution of up to 70% of the IOC TV revenue share. This project represents a total of US$ 21.5 million in the next four-year period, to assist FINA National Members in the development of their activities.
Online magazine Soccer Laduma has become the Bundesliga’s official media partner in Africa.
The agreement with German soccer’s premier division will allow Soccer Laduma to show video highlights on every match day, as well as interview access to some of its biggest clubs and stars. In addition, retired Nigerian star Jay-Jay Okocha, who spent six years playing in Germany, will write a monthly column specifically about German soccer.

FIFA can confirm that in accordance with the established timeline, the two registered bidders have submitted their respective bidding agreements before the passing of the 30 November deadline.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the 2018 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (“List”) along with the 2018 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes. The List, which was approved by WADA’s Executive Committee on 24 September 2017, will come into force on 1 January 2018. The List designates what substances and methods are prohibited, both in and out of competition, and which substances are banned in particular sports.

Lausanne, 29 November 2017 – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the appeal filed by the Peruvian football club Real Garcilaso against the Peruvian Football Federation (PFF) and the Peruvian football clubs Club Sport Alianza Atlético de Sullana and Club Juan Aurich. Resolution 034-CJ-FPF-2017 rendered by the Comisión de Justicia de la Federación Peruana de Fútbol on 11 August 2017 in which Real Garcilaso was sanctioned for having fielded an ineligible player has been set aside and a new decision has been imposed in which the PFF is ordered to restore 6 points to Real Garcilaso and deduct 3 points from Club Sport Alianza Atlético de Sullana and Club Juan Aurich.On 14 and 23 July 2017 Real Garcilaso played matches against Club Sport Alianza Atlético de Sullana and Club Juan Aurich, winning both games. Club Sport Alianza Atlético de Sullana and Club Juan Aurich subsequently filed complaints with the Peruvian Football Federation alleging that Carlos Neumann had been ineligible to play for Real Garcilaso in those matches due to administrative irregularities in the loan registration between his home club in Paraguay and Real Garcilaso.
Tema Town XI pipped Teshie XI 1-0 to book a date with La XI in the finals of the McDan Ga-Adangme Homowo Unity Cup scheduled for December 3 at the La Town Park.
The Harbour boys scored the lone goal of the match in the dying minutes of the first half through Isaac Amoah after dominating and creating several chances. Teshie came back strongly in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.
Wimbledon has announced the staging of a quad wheelchair doubles exhibition event for The Championships 2018, intended to be a stepping stone towards the introduction of quad wheelchair singles and doubles as Championship events in the future.
The exhibition, which will recognise the importance of quad wheelchair tennis to the global game, will be held during the second week of The Championships 2018. |
