Ghana Football Association (GFA) President has been elected to serve on the FIFA Executive Committee. He is one of the two to represent the African continent on the world body controlling football.

CAIRO, 29 Sep '16 -- SAFA's delegates (Danny Jordaan, Lucas Nhlapo and Dennis Mumble) today participated in an Extraordinary Congress convened by CAF to approve significant changes to its Statutes in line with the governance reforms approved by FIFA earlier this year at a FIFA Congress in Mexico.
Significant additional language to develop women's football to ensure the full participation of women in football governance was added to the revised CAF Statutes, marking a milestone in the empowerment of women in African football. African women now serve in the highest echelons of world football's governing body. Lydia Nsekera and Fatma Samoura rank among the top leaders in the world governing body and CAF has pledged to do more to empower women in football. ![]()

The CAF Extraordinary General Assembly took place on Thursday, 29 September 2016 in Cairo, Egypt with the election of two Africana onto the FIFA Executive Council and the approval of a proposal from the CAF Executive Committee for the modification of Statutes dominating the headlines.
Also getting the approval of the Congress that saw all 54 National Associations affiliated to CAF present, was the Rules governing the application of the statutes and Rules of the General Assembly of CAF. ![]()

ZIMBABWE talismanic forward Knowledge Musona has received the backing of his club KV Oostende after he was sucked in a gambling storm in which he is alleged to have placed bets on some matches in the country’s league. Protecting the integrity of sport at the Olympic Games is a top priority for the International Olympic Committee (IOC). A number of sound new measures were therefore put in place during the Olympic Games Rio 2016, both in the Olympic Village and behind-the-scenes. These measures included a fully operational Joint Integrity Intelligence Unit (JIIU) implemented in collaboration with experts from the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, as well as a reinforced Integrity Betting Intelligence System (IBIS) and, for the first time, the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions was implemented. ![]()
London Marathon Charitable Trust has announced its latest round of grants with more than £1.1million awarded towards the creation or renovation of 14 high quality, accessible and affordable facilities that will encourage and support participation in physical activity.
The awards include a grant of £150,000 to The Access to Sports Project towards tennis court improvements, the installation of floodlighting on six tennis courts and the development of a new pavilion building at Finsbury Park in Haringey to increase use of the site and make it more appealing to under-represented groups, particularly less active children and young people. The charity has a successful track record of providing a wide range of accessible and affordable sports activities to disadvantaged and disengaged young people in the London Boroughs of Hackney, Haringey and Islington. ![]()
