Under pressure Bafana Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund, will have to assemble his best squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers when his troops were drawn in Group A along with defending champions Nigeria, Sudan and the of a preliminary tie involving Congo, Namibia, Libya and Rwanda.

But Igesund is optimistic that his charges will will qualify for AFCON 2015, a cup they won in 1996 on home soil.

“It is a fair draw and I think we should be one of the two countries (from our group) that qualify to the finals in Morocco. I was not expecting an easy draw because all countries are competitive but I am very hopeful of qualifying for Morocco,” said Igesund soon after the draw was announced in Cairo, Egypt.

“The past two years of my tenure have been the most difficult but now I do have a core of around 30 players on which to choose from and Bafana should be one of the countries going to Morocco,” he said.

The 30th edition of the Afcon spectacle will be played from January 17 through to February 8, 2015.

The procedure for the draws of the group phase of the Orange CAF Champions League and Orange CAF Confederation Cup was adopted on Monday, 28 April 2014 under the chairmanship of CAF President, Issa Hayatou.

The rankings of the eight qualified teams were achieved on the performance of the last five editions (2009-2013). The rankings for the Orange CAF Confederation Cup are:

Al Ahly (Egypt), Coton Sport ( Cameroon ), AC Leopards (Congo), Sewe Sport (Côte d'Ivoire), Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia), ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), AS Real ( Mali ) and Nkana ( Zambia).

In Pot 1 are Ahly and Coton Sport and the first team drawn will go to Group A and the other in Group B.

The same will be done for Pot 2 (AC Leopards, Sewe Sport), Pot 3 (Etoile du Sahel, ASEC Mimosas) and Pot 4 (AS Real, Nkana).

A draw will be made to assign a coefficient (A1, B1, A2 ...) to establish the order of the matches.

The procedure is identical to that of the Orange CAF Champions League where the rankings of the club are as follows; Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Club Sportif Sfaxien (Tunisia), Al Hilal (Sudan), Zamalek (Egypt), Entente Setif (Algeria) , AS Vita Club (DR Congo) and Ahly Benghazi ( Libya).

Pot 1: Esperance Sportive de Tunis, TP Mazembe
Pot 2: CS Sfaxien, Al Hilal
Pot 3: Zamalek, Entente Setif
Pot 4: AS Vita, Ahly Benghazi
