Boxer Shakul Samed from Ghana is the first athlete testing positive for a banned substance at the Commonwealth games in Birmingham. Despite the efforts of both the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to keep the games 100% clean, anti-doping violations like this, threaten to taint the Games and athletes’ desire for a fair competition. Doping is particularly prevalent in sports that require strength and power such as boxing, thus it is not entirely surprising that the positive drug test was found in a boxer’s sample.

Over 600 athletes took part in the first inter-city marathon in the Ghanaian capital of Accra Saturday to usher the 2022 Homowo celebrations, a festival that marks the beginning of food harvest among the native Ga ethnic group of Accra.

Both male and female participants from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Kenya, China, and some other countries and regions joined the race.

Lithuania defeated 3x3 Europe Cup 2021 winners Spain 14-13 in Prague to win their first-ever Women's Series Stop. With less than 10 seconds to go and with the game tied 13-13, Gabriele Sulske scored the game-winner for the Lithuanians.

The organization of the opening ceremony was great, as planning was fantastic, making the estimated 30,000 spectators at the stadium over excited.
The performances were superb and indeed memorable at the 22nd Games which is the third time that England is hosting after London 1934 and Manchester 2002.
The top nations on parade were Australia, England, Canada, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, Kenya, Wales and Jamaica.

Eritrean athletes found after going missing at World Championships

Eritrean track and field team members, who were reported to have disappeared from the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, have been found, according to a University of Oregon spokesperson.

The University of Oregon Police Department earlier said four athletes and their coach from the northeast African country absconded after participating in the World Championships held between July 15 and 24 in Eugene.
