Former Sierra Leonean students in China, Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association (SISLAA) on Saturday defeated Chinese citizens 4-1 in a friendly tie at the Siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown.

The match was played as part of the Salone-China 45-year friendship celebration and the President of SISLAA, Dr. Maxim Conjoh emphasized the importance of the match.

Obreh Kargbo joins Dulwich Hamlet FC

Former Sierra Leone international, Ibrahim Obreh Kargbo has joined English non-league side Dulwich Hamlet FC on a one-year deal.

The 34 years old who is currently facing a ban from playing in the Netherlands over match-fixing allegations confirmed his signing for the London based non-league side.

"I'm happy to sign for Dulwich Hamlet and I know I can still play well," Kargbo told BBC Sport.

Sierra Leone international striker, Mohamed Buya Turay scored his first hat-trick for Athletic United in their 3-1 win over Syrianska FC on Sunday as they moved to the top of the Swedish Superettan (second tier) league table.

The 20-year-old opened his account from a free kick in the open during the 6th minute of play but Marko Nikolic leveled the score for the home side 12 minutes later. The Sierra Leonean forward double the away side’s lead four minutes after the break before gabbing his third in the 71st minute.

Wheelchair star David Weir completed a spectacular road race double at the Vitality London 10,000 in central London this morning while Scotland’s Andrew Butchart went from second to first in less than 24 hours to claim his first British championship title.

Weir shook off any lingering tiredness from his historic barrier-breaking one mile world record in the Vitality Westminster Mile yesterday to win the British men’s 10K wheelchair title in 21 minutes and six seconds ahead of South Africa’s Ernst van Dyk while Butchart bounced back from yesterday’s narrow defeat in the men’s mile to defeat defending champion Andy Vernon in a personal best of 28:28.

“We will actually be playing league again this weekend, against Wits,” said UJ coach Garreth Ewing, “and then we begin the build-up towards Ussa.”

Sharks CEO John Smit announced on Thursday that he will be resigning at the end of 2016 season, after three years in the position.
 
Chairman of The Sharks Board of Directors, Stephen Saad, has thanked the 38-year-old former Springbok captain for his tireless efforts in his time at the helm of Durban franchise.
 
The decorated former Sharks and Saracens hooker has won more Tests (46 from 64 – winning percentage of 72%) as captain than any Springbok has played as captain.

The ICC World Cricket League Division 5 winner Jersey, along with Oman who it beat by 44 runs in the final on Saturday, have both been promoted to Division 4. The two will have a chance to lock horns once again in November, when they travel to Los Angeles in the Unites States of America to play the Division 4 tournament.
 
Meanwhile, Guernsey, which defeated Vanuatu by 19 runs to finish third, has retained its place in Division 5, while Vanuatu, along with fifth-placed Tanzania and sixth-placed Nigeria, and have been relegated to respective regional-qualifying events. Vanuatu will head down to the East-Asian qualifying event, while Nigeria and Tanzania will have to fight for a spot in Division 5 via the African regional qualifying event.

Reigning Ms Zimbabwe Regina Jonga added another silverware to her collection when she came sixth in the female physique while fitness trainer Precious Mujuru finished fourth in the fitness and bikini category at the Arnold Classic Africa here this weekend. The Arnold Classic was graced by celebrated American bodybuilder, actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger.
 
Jonga, a domestic worker in South Africa, was making her debut in an international competition. “Half a loaf is better than nothing but I wish I had adequate resources,” she said.

Eager bodies, sweat and tears were the mainstay of a mild Sunday morning as road runners from all spheres of society converged for the 2016 Comrades Marathon hoping to showcase their "Super Human" moments.
 
Both men and women - seasoned and newbies - cut off their 'winter' sleep and braved the chilly weather as they assembled to the start off point before the 89km downrun race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban got underway at 5am.
 
The womens race got off to a pacy start as last years winner, Caroline Wostmann, made her intentions clear from the onset. The Johannesburg athlete made the gruesome race seem so easy with her charming smile.

Gambia will host 2012 AFCON champions, Zambia in Bakau on Monday, 30 May 2016 as the Scorpions continue their preparations ahead of their 2017 AFCON qualifier against South Africa next month.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides at senior level and Gambia coach Sang John Ndong has been training with his local based players at the refurbished Technical Training Center in Yundum for the past three weeks.

Tanzania coach Charles Boniface Mkwassa is confident his side’s performance against Kenya on Sunday in a friendly has boosted their confidence heading into a crucial AFCON 2017 qualifier against Egypt next month.

Egypt have only one match remaining and will only need a draw against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, 4 June 2016 to confirm their place at next year’s finals. 

With just a point from two games, the Taifa Stars are holding on to the slimmest of hopes in the remaining two games, which they have to win to remain in contention.

On Monday 30 May 2016, just over two weeks after having been appointed by the FIFA Council as the next FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura paid a courtesy visit to the Home of FIFA in Zurich.

Ms Samoura took part in a management meeting alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino and later addressed the FIFA team, which she will be leading as of 20 June 2016, the date she is scheduled to take up the position.

Supersport United Captain Dean Furman believes their Nedbank Cup final triumph over Orlando Pirates is an unbelievable achievement for the club.
 
Matsatsansa lifted the trophy after coming from behind and beating the Soweto giants 3-2 at the Peter Mokaba stadium in what’s been a dramatic turn of fortunes for the Tshwane based club.
 
“It’s unbelievable, we have had a lot of ups and downs this season and a lot of people have written us off, but it shows unbelievable character,” he said after the game.

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama converted a penalty to earn Kenya a 1-1 home draw with Tanzania on Sunday in a warm-up match ahead of 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. 
   
A crude tackle just inside the box led to the spot-kick and although the Tanzanian goalkeeper correctly guessed the direction of the penalty, it was too hard and high for him to stop.
   
Captain Wanyama equalised close to half-time and six minutes after Elias Maguli had put the visitors head at Moi International Sports Centre stadium in Nairobi.

Following a great deal of anticipation and expectation, the shape of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 has been revealed. The draw for the group stage of the tournament took place during a major event at the Al-Hussein Cultural Centre in central Amman, on the evening of Monday 30 May.

Naturally, all eyes were on the fortunes of the hosts. The Jordanians will be in Group A and play their first match against Spain on the opening day of the competition, 30 September. Three other matches will also take place that day, including the tournament's opening match between New Zealand and Mexico.

Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) have been crowned champions of the 2015/16 Uganda Premier League after a 1-1 draw against 1-1 Sadolin Paints on the final day of the season on Friday, for their eleventh league title overall.
 
The outcome of the matched served academic purposes as KCCA had wrapped up the title last Tuesday after rivals Vipers were held 1-1 by URA in the penultimate match of the season.

30 May 2016 – Bafana Bafana head Coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba has named a 20-man squad to represent the country at the 2016 Edition of the COSAFA Cup in Windhoek, Namibia.
 
The South African Senior Men’s National Team will participate in the COSAFA Castle Cup from the quarter-final stage against group B winners on 18 June.
 
The tournament runs from 11-25 June 2016 and all matches will be played at Sam Nujoma and Independence Stadium.

During its meeting held on Tuesday, 24 May 2016 in Cairo, Egypt; the CAF Organising Committee for Interclub Competitions ruled on the new format of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. 

The two competitions, as announced by CAF President Issa Hayatou at the 38th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Mexico City, will have 16 clubs at the group stage effective next year.

Rwanda suffered a 0-2 loss to Senegal in a friendly on Saturday at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.

The encounter, a preparatory test for Rwanda ahead of next week’s AFCON 2017 qualifier against Mozambique, saw the Teranga Lions score two goals by the half-hour mark.  

Amavubi conceded the first goal in the 14th minute with Mame Biram Diouf breaking the deadlock before Sankhare Younnouse doubled the lead in the 30th minute.

Although Jody February goes to lengths to explain that he is no hero, tens of thousands of South African football fans would beg to differ. After all, it was the young goalkeeper who proved the match winner as his side qualified for this year's Men's Olympic Football Tournament in Rio de Janeiro.

Having lost the semi-finals of the CAF Africa U-23 Cup of Nations to Algeria, the Amaglug-glug had one last opportunity to book their ticket to Rio 2016, but to make it to South America, the team needed to beat hosts Senegal in a play-off. Having already lost 3-1 to the west Africans in the tournament's opening match, it was always going to be a tough ask of the South Africans. And with 15 minutes to go in the scoreless affair, their fate seemed sealed as Senegal were awarded a penalty.
