Blessing is now scheduled to race next in the 100 meters at the Jamaica Invitational on May 9th 2015 in Kingston.
Coming off a very successful 2014 season, Blessing Okagbare who is now ranked as one of the best and most versatile of sprinters in the world opened her season on Saturday at the Mt. Sac Relays dazzling the crowd in the 4 X 100 meters relay as she ran down her opposition one after another bringing the entire stadium to its feet. After the race, Blessing expressed how she felt and reacted to the crowd’s response saying it was “amazing” as she and teammates for the Nike ‘A’ Team (Kimberly Duncan, English Gardner and Mandy White) celebrated their victory. Their team (Nike A team) ran a time of 43.05 seconds followed in second place by the USC ‘A’ Team with a time of 43.38 seconds.
20 minutes later Blessing who had been scheduled to run her very first 400 meters race in her career by her coach; the Famed Sprint Guru John Smith, took to the track to race against specialist in the event. She would finish the race with a world class time of 53.34 seconds. Her reaction after the race was that “it was a great race for me” and she continued by saying “I want more, I didn’t get out as my coach wanted, but it was a great experience”. She however indicated though that she would have run faster if she had had more rest after the 4 X 100 meters relay which was only 20 minutes removed from the400 meters.
