After an excellent start to Season V, the American Franchise have lost six of their last seven matches and are sixth in the Group B table.
Puerto Rico are a place above USA in the table, and have enjoyed a good debut season in WSB with six wins from 13 matches.
Although neither side can qualify for the knock-out stages of the competition, bragging rights for an entire continent are on the line in this fixture.
Rio 2016 Olympic Games hopes are on the line in the first match of the evening when USA’s Brent Venegas III meets Puerto Rico’s Jeyvier Cintrón Ocasio.
5-1 across his debut WSB season, Cintrón is ranked second at Flyweight (52 kg) and is on the cusp of earning a Rio 2016 quota through this competition.
Two Flyweights will earn potential Olympic glory, and Cintrón is currently two points ahead of Morocco’s Achraf Kharroubi which means any type of win for the Hurricane will see him through.
Venegas is a tough opponent however, and is 3-3 in this campaign with all of his victories coming at home and on points.
Cintrón has the class however, and despite his tender years already has masses of boxing experiences which translates into his in ring style which incorporates a fast pace and control from the outset.
3-1 Carlos Balderas has been one of USA’s best boxers this season, and faces Adrian Javier Martinez Morales who makes his season debut in this clash.
Balderas is undefeated at home for the Knockouts, but will be wary of an unknown proposition in Morales.
Eighth ranked Welterweight (69 kg) Brian Ceballo competes next for the home side against another Puerto Rico debutant in Hector Emanuel Ortiz Pastrana.
American Light heavyweight (81 kg) Steve Nelson has had a mixed season across his four matches, with two successful home wins bookended by four away defeats.
He will aim to keep his undefeated streak in Miami going against 0-5 Hurricane Joseph Laboy who is still searching for his first WSB win.
The night, and the group stages close at Super heavyweight (91+ kg) where USA’s powerful 2-3 Cam F. Awesome fights 0-1 Jose Gabriel Medina.
