The Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) on Monday unveiled their newly elected national executive which will run the affairs of the association until 2017.

The ceremony which took place at the Harry Yansanneh Memorial Hall also saw the symbolic official handing over of former President, Mohamed Fajah Barrie to the Frank Cole led executive.

In his handing over speech, the outgoing President said he is proud and delighted for the peaceful, transparent and accountable manner in which he is handing over the mantle of leadership to the Cole executive.

“This is good news for our association and I am proud that this day has finally come.  It was a great honor to have served the association as president for the past five years, Barrie said adding that it will not be the end of his service to SWASAL as he will remain a committed SWASAL member and will always offer his services whenever called upon.

The BBC stringer further stated that he succeeded in transforming the association into a vibrant organization and a well-recognized and credible association.

He said: “I’m a very proud man today because I am leaving the hot seat very well satisfied. I know I’m leaving the leadership in capable hands of Frank Magnus Ernest Cole.”

In his inauguration speech, the President elect, Frank Cole paid tribute to the outgoing President adding that SWASAL will miss his courageous leadership as he gave his all for the association.

Cole urged the defeated Presidential candidate, Ibrahim Babatunde and his supporters to join his administration for the betterment of the association.

“Already I have made two special offers to Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay as major players and look forward to him reciprocating positively,” he said.

The former SWASAL scribe also urged the other members of his executive to think of the association as they work together as a team for the betterment of the association.
