The SLTA have been trying to secure the Hill Station tennis court for the construction of a National Tennis Centre since May of 2011 but the previous Executive which was headed by Kelvin Kellie failed to achieve that goal.
However, Koroma who was and is still the association scribe revealed that their move will soon become a reality.
He said: “Since the visit of the International Tennis Federation’s Development Officer for West, Central and North Africa to Freetown on a needs assessment visit, the Association has forwarded a proposal for the construction of a National Tennis Centre. This has been a very big challenge for us since 2011 to secure an ideal location. The Hill Station Lawn Tennis Courts is now becoming a possibility for the Association.”
The SLTA scribe further revealed that because of the effective Junior Tennis Initiative (J.T.I) program they are running through the ITF, the JTI Coordinator Amidu Dumbuya, who doubles as National Head Coach, have received tennis equipment from I.T.F to further support the Association’s J.T.I program.
