Glasgow 2014 has unveiled an exciting international line up for the sensational final fling of the XX Commonwealth Games.

Hampden Park, 9pm on Sunday 3 August will be transformed from the theatre of gold medal athletics success to a festival of celebration and song with 2,000 extra-ordinary volunteer performers lining up alongside global superstar Kylie Minogue and an array of iconic Scottish talents.

Just 18 hours after the conclusion of the Track and Field competition Hampden Park will be transformed into a stage to bring the curtain down on Glasgow and Scotland’s amazing Games with over 160 tonnes of staging, over 3000 props, 454 flags and the promise of a night out not to be missed in what athletes and spectators have described as one of the world’s friendliest cities.

Iconic international pop super star Kylie is one of the most successful and widely loved performing artists in the world and the pop princess has been topping the charts since beginning her career in 1987. She has released 45 singles and sold 68 million records worldwide. This year Kylie released her 12th studio album, Kiss Me Once, and will soon embark on a 33 date tour, proving that 2014 has all the signs of being Kylie’s best year yet.

Lulu who entertained the crowds at Glasgow Green during the Opening Ceremony will also appear.  Hailing from Glasgow, Lulu has since topped the charts in every decade, both as a solo artist and collaborating with some of the finest talents of our time.

Deacon Blue -  one of Scotland’s most famous and successful bands with six million album sales, 12 UK top forty singles and two number 1 albums – will also take to the stage. Deacon Blue has consistently been one of the most respected and celebrated bands of its generation.

One of Scotland’s finest singer songwriters Dougie Maclean will also be appearing. He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and an OBE. Dougie’s music has featured in Hollywood films such as Last of the Mohicans.

After causing a sensation on the internet last summer the Glasgow synthpop band Prides have since converted legions of fans with their incredible live shows over the last 12 months.

David Grevemberg, Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014 said:

“We are delighted to reveal the glittering line up of Scottish and International talent joining us in Hampden Park for the Closing Ceremony.

“There is so much for so many people to celebrate. Our Commonwealth athletes have been inspirational and the people of Glasgow and Scotland  will give them and all our visitors a great send-off. Never has a city or its people been prouder or more welcoming.”

David Zolkwer, Head of Ceremonies and Artistic Director said:

“It’s been an absolutely amazing time but now we’ve reached the bitter-sweet moment when we brace ourselves for the inevitable goodbyes and the farewells.  So, after an incredible feast of sport and culture we’re delighted to invite everyone ‘back to ours’ to party big time, and in Glasgow style.

“As the CGF flag will soon be travelling from Scotland to Australia – our line up naturally reflects that journey.  We’re thrilled that such talented artists - both emerging and iconic - have enthusiastically accepted our invitation to join the party to help create an unforgettable night, a send-off for the athletes of the Commonwealth and to the millions of people watching the ceremony around the world who have been Glasgow’s guests for the last 11 days.”

The ceremony will be broadcast live on the bbc and to television viewers of an estimated 1 billion in 71 Commonwealth nations and territories.

There are a few remaining tickets left for the Closing Ceremony. Tickets can be bought on the website at tickets.glasgow2014.com or by calling 0800 458 2014. Ticket holders who are yet to collect their tickets can do so in advance from any Glasgow 2014 venue or the George Square Ticket Office.

The Opening & Closing Ceremonies of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are being created and produced on behalf of Glasgow 2014 by Jack Morton Worldwide who also created the Ceremonies for Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002 and Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006.  They are the team behind some of the most high profile and critically acclaimed ceremonies on four continents – including Athens 2004 Olympic Ceremonies and the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup Ceremonies.
