The U/17 team are here to take part in a Four-Nation tournament that will comprise hosts Namibia, Ghana and a select side from Germany.
The South Africans, coached by Molefi Ntseki, wasted no time dipping themselves in the swimming pool to cool off and take time to recuperate.
“The medical team is working round the clock to ensure the players are rehydrated and injury free ahead of their opening match against hosts Namibia on Wednesday, 16 April 2014.
“Having left a wet and chilly Johannesburg, it is imperative that the boys drink water regularly. The temperatures in Namibia are hovering around 35 degrees Celsius and this is in sharp contrast with where we are coming from,” said team Doctor, Thulani Ngwenya.
Head of delegation Monde Montshiwa said the team had been well received and were raring to give this tournament a go.
“The team arrived safely and excited to be in another country, for many of these young future champions this is their first time out of South Africa.
“This is a great experience for them to see how other countries are. Football is one of those sporting codes that give individuals an experience that is priceless,” said Montshiwa.
The tournament will run as follows:
