Yesterday marked the 100 day countdown to the quadrennial Games.
“There is still time to polish the rough edges and put in a very good performance in Glasgow. National Championship[s and training camps will help us finalize Team South Africa for Glasgow. On this key milestone date, though, we are more than ready,” said Sascoc President, Gideon Sam, who is also vice president of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Sascoc confirmed it expected to send a team of more than 150 athletes from various sporting codes, despite the stringent qualifying criteria’s, with individuals and teams needing to be ranked among the top five in the Commonwealth to book their place in the squad.
The final team lists must be submitted to the CGF by the end of May.
