The tournament which is being organized by current football stakeholders under the Unisa Alim ‘Awoko’ Sesay led Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) faction will run from August 21 to 23 at the Siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown.
He said: “We are not only limiting this to the premier league clubs but also the first and second division teams and a majority of them have consented to participate whiles 12 out of the 14 clubs have expressed their willingness to play.’
“I cannot say much on the two other clubs but we are still hoping to get the military team to join us as the essence of this tournament is to start reviving the game and take it to the people after a long absence.”
Confirming their participation, Mighty Blackpool coach Abu Sankoh said he will use the three days event to test young players he might recruit ahead of the new league season, whilst FC Kallon secretary general, Blamoh Robert said nothing will stop their participation.
The 12 premier league clubs are; Ports Authority, FC Kallon, Anti-Drugs FC, Mighty Blackpool, East End Lions, Old Edwardians, Gem Stars, Freetown City FC, Diamond Stars, Bo Rangers, Central Parade and Kamboi Eagles.
