In 2014 Pirates finished fourth in the Premiership standings, which was only good enough for a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup this term. Makola, who was a part of the Pirates squad that lost the 2013 Champions League final to Al-Ahly, wants another crack at the biggest club title on the continent.
"We want to play in next year's [Caf] Champions League, and we know it won't come by itself," Makola told Sapa.
"It will need us to play our part. The players who've tasted African football are hungry for more football at that level, including myself."
"However, in order for us to get there we need to win our matches. We want a top-two finish in the league as to which position in the top-two, only time will tell, however the Champions League is what we are fighting for," Makola added.
