All 20 MLS teams will select from approximately 250 top collegiate, youth and international draft-eligible players. This year, the SuperDraft will consist of two rounds, each with 21 picks. Notable selections in past years include: U.S. men’s national team and Seattle Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey (2004); Orlando City SC’s newly acquired Brek Shea (2008); 2012 MLS Cup VW MVP and 2014 MLS Cup winner Omar Gonzalez of the LA Galaxy (2009); 2014 MLS Cup runner-up, the New England Revolution’s Andrew Farrell (2013) and 2014 Rookie of the Year, Tesho Akindele of FC Dallas (2014).
Landon Donovan tribute event
At 10:30 a.m. ET, ahead of the MLS SuperDraft, Major League Soccer will pay tribute to Landon Donovan, honoring him for his significant contributions to the League.
This landmark event will be held at the Marriott Downtown Philadelphia – Grand Ballroom Salon E.
Interview opportunities with Landon Donovan and MLS Commissioner Don Garber will be immediately following.
MLS WORKS community service project
MLS WORKS and Philadelphia Union partnered with MLS SuperDraft prospects for Philabundance community service project. The players sorted and packed food for local food banks while in the city prior to the 2015 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.
