Tunis, Tunisia, February 17, 2015 - Eleven men's and eight women's teams will seek a historic qualification for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 when they compete in the first ever African World Championship qualifier which begins in Tunis on Tuesday.
In the men's competition, the historic tournament features teams representing hosts Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Libya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco, Sierra Leone and Niger.
Pool A: Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Libya
Pool B: South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Niger
In the women's competition, the eight participating teams will also be divided into two pools as follows:
Pool A: Tunisia, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt
Pool B: South Africa, Algeria, Niger, Namibia
The top two teams in each of the pools in both genders will clinch tickets to the World Championship finals in the Netherlands. The International Volleyball Federation has allocated four places per gender to Africa. Each of the five confederations will have the same number of slots at the World Championships.
