In the 54th minute Wright-Phillips doubled his tally from the penalty spot. After a foul in the box on Sam, Wright-Phillips stepped up to take the spot kick sending a low shot to the bottom left corner, squeezing by Frei who got a hand on the ball.
Two minutes later, the Englishman secured his hat-trick to give the Red Bulls a 3-0 lead. After making a run down the left flank, Roy Miller sent a perfectly measured cross into the box, which Wright-Phillips took first time sending a bullet shot past Frei.
The New York Red Bulls return to action this Sunday as they head out west take on the LA Galaxy at 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and TSN2).
