Want to know what Barra Olympic Park, the heart of the Rio 2016 Games, will look like once competition is underway? A new video released by the Rio city government mixes footage of construction works from January this year with computer-generated images of how the venues will be when in use – allowing viewers a tantalising taste of the excitement of Games time.

Want to know what Barra Olympic Park, the heart of the Rio 2016 Games, will look like once competition is underway? A new video released by the Rio city government mixes footage of construction works from January this year with computer-generated images of how the venues will be when in use – allowing viewers a tantalising taste of the excitement of Games time.
With an area of 1.18 million square metres, Barra Olympic Park will host 16 Olympic sports and nine Paralympic sports, along with the Main Press Centre and the International Broadcast Centre. There are two existing venues and work is progressing well on the seven new venues, with the first set to be ready in the second half of this year.
During the Olympic Games, Barra Olympic Park will host gymnastics (artistic, rhythmic, trampoline), basketball, swimming, water polo, diving, synchronised swimming, tennis, judo, track cycling, handball, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, fencing and taekwondo. During the Paralympic Games it will stage wheelchair tennis, 5-a-side football, wheelchair rugby, goalball, swimming, track cycling, wheelchair basketball, boccia and judo.
