It took the Nigerian Football Federation 282 days to finally reach an agreement with Keshi and announce he would lead the nation toward the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Over the last few years, the country has attempted to convince promising players born abroad, but with Nigerians roots, to represent the Super Eagles.
Keshi revealed he will continue with the strategy and looks set to call up Newcastle's Sammy Ameobi, among others, for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
"I was in touch with Sammy Ameobi, and it sort of died down after I left, but we will rekindle that now," Keshi said.
"I will talk to the NFF General Secretary and President to see if we can bring him in for the qualifiers but he's not the only one.
"We have several other overseas-born players we want to give a chance. We brought in Steven Ukoh from Switzerland and we still have several others.
"If they are qualified to play for Nigeria and we think they can give us what we want, surely we'll bring them in."
