The 30 something year old Sierra Leone forward re-joined his former club on Tuesday after last playing for the Crew back in 2007 and the excited Kamara said he is not only joining the Crew to score goals but to win something big.
“I want to be in the box,” said Kamara, who left English Championship club Middlesbrough in late August. “My goals aren’t to come in and say I want to score 20 goals, My goal is to win something big.”
Kamara also revealed that he spoke to Crew legend Frankie Hejduk prior to his move and was inspired seeing the former USA international’s 2008 MLS Cup ring. “He was wearing his championship ring,” Kamara added. “I’ve won a US Open Cup. When I see something like (Hejduk’s ring), for me that’s really a great accomplishment”.
Kamara spent two seasons with Columbus after the Ohio club picked him up in the 2006 MLS Super Draft. He scored five goals in 36 appearances before being traded to San Jose in 2008.
