An independent review panel consisting of one representative from the U.S. Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association and one representative of the Professional Referees Organization (PRO), were not unanimous that the referee incorrectly identified the offense or that the sanction applied was incorrect.
As a result, Besler will serve his one-match suspension and will miss his team’s next match against FC Dallas on March 14 at Toyota Stadium (8:30 p.m. ET).
