The Menas were drawn against the Golden Eaglets in Group A for the draw of the 11th edition of the biennial championship held on Sunday, 21 December 2014 in Cairo, Egypt. Guinea and Zambia are the other teams in Group A.
CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani conducted the draw and was assisted by CAF Executive Committee member, Mohamed Raouaroaua, who doubles as President of the Organising Committee of the African U-17 Championship.
Guinea and Zambia will face-off in the other Group A match later in the day at the same venue.
On the second day, two-time winners, Nigeria will face Guinea on 18 February 2015 whilst Zambia battles Niger both at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium.
On 21 February 2015, hosts Niger will wrap up their campaign at the group phase against Guinea at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium whilst Nigeria and Zambia sort things out at the Municipal Stadium.
Holders Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa, Mali and Cameroon make up Group B to be based at the Municipal Stadium also in Niamey.
The Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire will face the Amajimbos of South Africa in the opening match of Group B on 16 February 2015 at the Municipal Stadium whilst Mali engages Cameroon later at the same venue.
Three days later, South Africa will be up against Mali whereas Cameroon contends with Cote d’Ivoire both at the Municipal Stadium.
The ultimate matches of the group will be on 22 February 2015 with Cote d’Ivoire hosting Mali at the Municipal Stadium and South Africa versus Cameroon at the General Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey.
The semi-finalists will represent the continent at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
