There is no rest for the weary. On the heels of an electrifying encounter on Sunday night which saw the Seattle Sounders FC best rivals Portland Timbers 2-0 in front of a capacity crowd of 64,207, this week quickly pans out to be one of the busiest in the MLS season. Everything gets started on Wednesday night when Golden Boot leader Bradley Wright-Phillips and the New York Red Bulls visit Maurice Edu and the Philadelphia Union. Wright-Phillips leads the league with 15 goals and has scored 14 of them across his last 11 league games. The match can be seen on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes at 7:00 p.m. ET. Stick around at halftime as the MLS All-Star Fan XI is set to be unveiled to the national TV audience.
On Friday night, Darlington Nagbe’s Portland Timbers play host to reigning MLS Rookie of the Year Dillon Powers and the Colorado Rapids. Portland fell to Seattle this past weekend their last time out 2-0 thanks to goals from Clint Dempsey and Marco Pappa which saw their winless streak end at four games. Caleb Porter’s side will look to get back on track against a Colorado team that hasn’t scored a goal in Portland since 2011. Powers tallied a goal and an assist in Colorado’s last game, helping the Rapids to a thrilling come-from-behind 3-3 draw in Philadelphia.

Two more Golden Boot candidates will round out the weekend’s matchups. Sporting Kansas City’s Dom Dwyer trails Wright-Phillips by just one goal and will have two opportunities to catch his fellow Englishman in Week 19. The defending champs will welcome Landon Donvan and the LA Galaxy fresh off a 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake, on Saturday, July 19 (ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes at 6:00 p.m. ET). Trailing Wright-Phillips by two goals is Chivas USA’s Erick “Cubo” Torres with 13. The Mexican striker will look to keep his hot streak alive as he and the Goats travel across the country for a date with Bill Hamid and D.C. United. That game can be seen at 8:00 p.m. ET on Univision Deportes Network (UDN).
