The world football governing body, FIFA has urged the country’s football stakeholders to wait for the planned Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) January 30/31 congress to raise their concern to take decisions.
In an exclusive interview with Songhai Sports Network correspondent, a FIFA spokesman reaffirmed the federation stance that they only recognized the impeached Isha Johansen led executive and not the Alhaji Unisa Alim ‘Awoko’ Sesay interim body.
“Once again we can only confirm that FIFA doesn’t recognize the outcome of the so-called Congress of 20th December 2014. This has been emphasized to the respective authorities.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Awoko’ Sesay led interim executive-which has already gained recognition from the Sports Ministry and the National Sports Council have reacted to this latest comment from FIFA.
According to Awoko, the proposed congress is illegal because it does not fall under the ambit of the SLFA statutes.
He said: “The said congress they are talking of is not in line with our SLFA constitution and that the dissolved SLFA executive does not have the authority to convey any such congress.”
