MUNICH (FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate) – FIBA's prestigious European coaching program, the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC) is set to tip-off for its 10th year.

The exclusive three-year coaching program, which focuses on the development of young players, has a limited intake of 60 up-and-coming European coaches, who are nominated by their national federation. This summer will see the beginning of the 2017-2019 class, and the conclusion of the 2015-2017/18 class.

"For me it is a great honor to be part of the FECC, and have the opportunity to share my knowledge with aspiring coaches, who show a genuine interest in developing and establishing their coaching careers," said the Real Madrid head coach Pablo Laso, who has been part of the FECC since its inception in 2007. "But it is also a great chance for myself to widen my basketball horizon, exchanging new ideas and philosophies with my colleagues and the participating coaches.

"This is a truly unique program, and, on account of its exclusivity, sees us working with the absolute top echelon of Europe’s upcoming coaches."

FECC combines onsite and remote learning, with participants meeting each summer at a FIBA European Championship Division A event, whilst additionally, the aspiring coaches are required to complete theoretical work modules throughout the year.

This summer, the 2015-2017/18 class will run in conjunction with the FIBA U18 European Championship in Slovak Republic, from July 29 to August 6. The 55 European participants, plus 5 participants from FIBA's other zones will graduate from the FECC at the conclusion of the 9 days of classes and practical work.

The 2017-2019 class begins at the U16 European Championship, which takes place in Montenegro from August 11-19 and will involve 60 European coaches from a record 40 national federations, as well as an additional 8 coaches from FIBA's four other zones.

Once again, the participants will have a chance to learn from some of the most recognized coaches and external experts on the European continent, including FECC mentor Svetislav Pesic and Pablo Laso.

More information on the FECC can be found here.
