A cornerstone of guaranteeing the success of the illustrious global event has been the establishment of four Fan Zones, areas where supporters can engage in friendly exchanges and celebrate the beautiful game.
“The Local Organising Committee of the FIFA Club World Cup made the implementation of Fan Zones a strategic priority,” explained Youssef Samihi, the LOC’s merchandising and Fan Zone manager.
Strategically located in the four towns in question, the Fan Zones will offer a fantastic meeting place for football-loving visitors from all over the globe. On-site cultural and sporting events are on the agenda, including concerts and fun activities for children, such as video games and small-sided matches. A ticket office will also be made available to attendees.
Convivial gatherings
These Fan Zones, officially opened within the last few days, will be accessible on a daily basis from 11am to 8pm. A giant screen has been installed at each site, enabling supporters to watch Club World Cup matches in a relaxed environment.
“Only the Fan Zone situated in the city in which matches are taking place that day will not be able to benefit from this facility. It is also worth pointing out that a dining area has been placed at the disposal of supporters, making their overall experience as comfortable as possible,” said Samihi.
Among this year’s Fan Zone innovations are mini-museums retracing the greatest moments of the Club World Cup. The trophy, meanwhile, was put on display during the first few days after the opening of the Zones, from Friday 5 December to Monday 8 December.
“Some of the greatest players in the world have enthralled millions of fans via this tournament, like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Wayne Rooney, Alessandro Nesta, Samuel Eto’o, Philipp Lahm and Franck Ribery, among others. And now we’re all waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo!” exclaimed Merry Krimau, a living legend of Moroccan football, who attended the opening of Casablanca’s Fan Zone on Sunday.
With everything in place for kick-off and the four Fan Zones now open to the general public, supporters will soon be able to enjoy the Club World Cup to the fullest.
“Morocco is renowned for its hospitality. We await visitors from all over the world so that they can share in the Fan Zones’ warm and welcoming atmosphere,” concluded Samihi.
