According to lieutenant staff sergeant Orfoy who is the clubs head coach, and also doubles as the assistant coach of the Sierra Leone Boxing team; the tournament is to help the boxing association towards improving the sports and having more competition in a calendar year.
He said an invitation will be extended to all boxing clubs in the country because they want the competition to have a great impact as this will be their first competition in 2014.
“We are expecting over forty boxers to participate in the competition. It is going to be the first fight in the calendar year that is why we are very much excited to invite all the boxing clubs especially the forces,” he said, adding that the forces are the true owners of the discipline in the country.
The assistant national coach further revealed that the invited boxers will not be fighting for money but for other top prizes and certificate.
