United States Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann named nine MLS players to his 22-man roster for upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Germany. The selected players include: Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution), and Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy). Klinsmann also tabbed New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones, but he suffered a groin injury in last night’s draw with the LA Galaxy that will prevent him from making the trip. The USMNT faces the Netherlands on June 5 at 2:00 p.m. ET (ESPN, ESPN Deportes, UniMas, UDN) in Amsterdam, before heading Cologne to meet Germany on June 10. This two-game circuit marks the squad’s final tune up ahead of this summer’s Gold Cup, which begins on July 7.
The United States Women’s National Team wrapped up its Send-Off Series at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, playing Korea Republic to a scoreless draw. Now, the team embarks for Winnipeg, Canada, where it will open FIFA Women’s World Cup action on Monday, June 8th, against Australia. The USWNT enters the World Cup riding a high, having has outscored opponents 19-4 en route to a 7-2-1 record since the beginning of 2015. However, Alex Morgan’s status for the beginning of the tournament remains uncertain as she continues to rehab a lingering knee injury. If Morgan is not ready for action, head coach Jill Ellis can turn to a slew of quality options including Amy Wambach, Sydney Leroux, Amy Rodriguez, and Christen Press.
