Egypt’s national team coach, Hector Cuper has rejected the chance to play against the Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars in a friendly match before the commencement of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Egyptian wants to engage in two friendly matches before they start the ball rolling for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers and the country’s Football Association (EFA) recommended Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Uzbekistan, Australia and Syria amongst several others for the friendlies.
The newly appointed Argentine coach chose Burundi and Malawi as part of their preparations for their AFCON qualifiers and this was announced by the EFA in their official website.
"There could be new contacts with these teams to arrange friendly matches next July or August," the statement added.
Egypt, have been drawn in Group G of the 2017 qualifiers along with Nigeria, Tanzania and Chad. They will kick-off their bid to reach the Gabon finals on 14 June against Tanzania.
