Stade Municipal Niamey
Cote d'Ivoire 2-2 South Africa
Defending champions Cote d'Ivoire rallied from two goals down to rescue a point as they drew 2-2 with South Africa in a thrilling Group B clash of the CAF U17 championship at the Stade Municipal in Niamey.
Amajimbos made a good start to this fixture as two beautiful 'tap-ins' by Ntuthuko Mbatha after 23minutes and Eric Mayo on the hour mark gave South Africa a precious lead. The Amajimbos were seemingly in cruise control and could have further extended their lead in the 73rd and 80th minutes but Mayo could not convert two glorious chances with only the keeper at his mercy.
With eight minutes on the clock, Idrissa Doumbia tapped in from a corner to level matters at a packed Municipal.
