
Cairo, Egypt, January 6, 2014 - The African Volleyball Confederation has confirmed the dates and organizers for the third and final phase of the African qualification tournaments for the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championships, which are due to be held in Poland and Italy in September and October later this year.
Fifteen teams will be participating in the men's qualifiers and will be divided into three pools of five. The winner of each pool will secure a ticket to the finals in Poland, which will take place from September 3 to 18.
The second group (Pool U) will be held in Kenya, joined by Botswana, Zambia, Cape Verde and Egypt to play the tournament in Nairobi from February 5-11, 2014.
Tunisia will host the third group (Pool V) where they will battle it out against the Seychelles, Congo Brazzaville, Senegal and Niger for a ticket to the finals.
The women's third round qualifiers feature 14 teams and are divided into two pools where the winner of both will clinch a ticket to the finals in Italy, which will be held from September 23 to October 12.
Algeria will be hosting the first group (Pool T) from February 23 to March 2, 2014 where the hosts along with Botswana, Ghana, Cameroon, RD Congo, Nigeria and Egypt will contest a ticket to the finals.
Kenya will organize the second women's group (Pool U) from February 16 to 23, 2014 with the Seychelles, Uganda, Tunisia, Senegal, Mozambique and Cape Verde all participating.
