The DA has laid criminal charges against South African Football Association(Safa) President Dr Danny Jordaan and predecessor Molefi Oliphant this morning. This was done so that allegations that a $10 million (about R140 million) bribe was paid to the North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football in return for votes in the the 2010 World Cup bidding process could be proved, the party said.
The party said the global showpiece would forever remain one of SA’s shining achievements, but it was vitally important to hold those allegedly guilty of corruption to account and that a clear message was sent to those who seek to tarnish SA though corrupt activities.
