Future stars on display at MLS Combine
As the 2015 adidas MLS Player Combine draws to a close in sunny south Florida, four MLS signings have made convincing cases to be among the first players off the board at this week’s SuperDraft presented by adidas in Philadelphia.
Two Generation adidas signings, University of Washington midfielder Cristian Roldan and Central Florida forward Romario Williams, have both put in enticing performances. Roldan showcased his versatility and tenacious athleticism while creating several scoring chances for both himself and his Team AdiZero teammates. Williams, meanwhile, registered a goal and an assist in Team Predator’s 4-3 win over Team Nativo on Sunday, utilizing his blend of size and speed to slice through the opposition’s backline.
Oregon State forward Khiry Shelton and Notre Dame midfielder Nick Besler, who both signed with MLS prior to the Combine, have boosted their stocks with standout performances as well. Shelton generated a slew of scoring opportunities in Friday’s match and netted a goal that secured Team Nitro Charge’s 2-0 win on Sunday. Besler, who plays with Shelton on Nitro Charge, has exuded confidence and command from the midfield and tallied an assist off a corner kick in Sunday’s victory.
