The Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) annual General Meeting has been moved to France on the 13th of next month due to Ebola fears.
The meeting which was initially intended to take place in Dakar, Senegal has now been relocated to Marcoussis in France, according to CAR.
The meeting was moved based on strong recommendations from the International Rugby Board and the French Foreign Affairs Ministry following forecasts of Ebola surge. It was therefore agreed upon to change the venue despite the fact that Senegal is currently not affected by the catastrophe as a precautionary measure.
Through a press statement, CAR extended its gratitude towards the French Rugby Federation (FFR) for allowing the meeting to take place in the European country.

“CAR wishes to thank the French Rugby Federation for welcoming us and a special word of gratitude goes to its chairman Mr Pierre Camou. Thus FFR is confirming the strong bonds between France and the 35 member unions of CAR,” reads part of the statement.
The meeting will take place on the 13th of December at the background of a full day of 3 workshops on the 12th focusing on best governance practices. The CAR Executive Committee will convene for its last meeting in this term.
