They once stood as tall as the Kilimanjaro Mountains (the highest peak in Africa) for the African continent in global Football but how low have the mighty fallen to become the whipping boys of global football at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Cameroon exits the FIFA 2014 World Cup in the most embarrassing fashion conceding 8 goals in their last two showing to Croatia and Brazil respectively the worst showing ever for the Indomitable Lions who once dominated at this stage. It got so bad that the team devolved into absolute chaos as players got entangled with each other in fisticuffs.

Cameroon came to Brazil as one of five representatives for the African continent to not just represent but help the continent gain traction in its showing on the global stage and help elevate the state of the game on the continent but they were unable to perform and have now left Brazil with heads hung in embarrassment.

It’s a time for some serious souls searching and reflection on what direction the FecaFoot (the Cameroon Football Association) heads in next. The country is full of talents but when you have a few rotten individuals scattered within the system who are not true football aficionados but rather money hungry wolves who see the game as just a means to their selfish ends then it becomes extremely impossible to help salvage the situation.

Every African out there wishes this once proud program can be rescued and elevated and celebrated for what they were and what they can be. They have given us Roger Milla and Samuel Eto’o and they do deserve more than such embarrassment, do something Cameroon you are more than whipping boys.
