Motorsport - Red Bull Air Race - World Championship - 6th Tourstop - Spielberg The Red Bull Air Race World Championship moves into the decisive phase with a pivotal race in the Austrian Alps on September 5th and 6th. The Championship leader, Paul Bonhomme (GBR), will feel the pressure from Australia’s Matt Hall and Austria’s Hannes Arch as they do everything they can to stop him from winning at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
SPIELBERG (AUT) – Bonhomme will be looking to avenge his defeat from 2014 in Arch’s home race in Spielberg when the two-time champion could have won his third straight title but finished a disappointing fifth. Last year’s result dropped him all the way to third place overall behind Nigel Lamb (GBR) and Arch. Austrian Hannes Arch, 2008 world champion and with two victories this season, knows that a win and 12 points from enthusiastic home fans could be just what he needs to stay in the championship title fight.
Bonhomme currently leads the championship with 46 points with three races left for the season. Australian Matt Hall is in second on 38 points and Arch in third with 30 points. Hard-charging Martin Sonka of the Czech Republic is fourth with 18 points and Nigel Lamb is fifth with 17
