In what is now but an absolute acknowledgement of Blessing Okagbare’s status as a force to reckon with globally in the athletics world, Nigeria recognized and crowned her as the Athletics Personality and National sportswoman of the year for 2014, alongside other notables the included Nigeria’s World Cup Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
In what was a star studded affair in Lagos, Nigeria at the Muson Center this past weekend, Blessing was accorded the Honor of Nigeria’s most recognized sports personality in the world of Track and Field and as the National Sportswoman of the year paralleling Enyeama’s awards who was also crowned the Male Sports Personality of 2014 alongside that of Nigerian Footballer of the Year.

Blessing who is just coming of her most successful year in International Track and Field winning Two Gold Medals in the 100 and 200 meters alongside setting a new Commonwealth Games Record in the 100 meters was home in Nigeria busy getting married to her one time Fiancé who is now her Husband Igho Otegheri when the awards were held.
The Awards have now sealed in what one can call a golden year of achievements for Blessing. She will soon head back overseas to the USA with her husband as company and pillar of support to start a new year of training to get ready for the World Athletics Championships and subsequently the Rio Olympics in 2016.
