Lausanne, Switzerland, December 10, 2015 - The FIVB Executive Committee approved a proposal to create an Athletes Commission to be unveiled at next year's Congress, which will now go forward to the Board of Administration for its approval.
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 10, 2015 - The FIVB Executive Committee approved a proposal to create an Athletes Commission to be unveiled at next year's Congress, which will now go forward to the Board of Administration for its approval.
The proposal for the Athletes Commission included the composition to include active and retired athletes (less than eight years from the last FIVB or Olympic Games event at the time of nomination) with one key aim of the Commission to propose criteria for election of the volleyball athletes as of 2020.
The immediate mission of the Athletes Commission will be to promote the values of volleyball as a clean sport, to disseminate information to athletes regarding medical and anti-doping matters, to study proposals for the athletes' post-career opportunities and to provide feedback on FIVB competitions and propose improvements.
