As the upset-filled Red Bull Air Race World Championship moves to Las Vegas for the penultimate stop of the thrill-filled 2014 season - this years season has featured four different winners in six races so far - Britain’s Paul Bonhomme is holding a slim one-point lead over Hannes Arch and Nigel Lamb.

LAS VEGAS (USA) - The seventh stop of the 2014 season will see the Red Bull Air Race take to the stage at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Constructed in 1996, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway offers its guests many unique and exciting racing experiences. At the centre of the 1,600-acre multi-track facility is the 1.5-mile tri-oval superspeedway which hosts the annual NASCAR weekend in the spring. With 18-20 degree banks, the track is a favourite among motorsports fans and is also popular with daredevil drag racers.

It’s been a year of ups and downs for Kirby Chambliss and the 54-year-old is keen to surpass his season-best finish so far: fourth place. Like the rest of the 12-man field, he’ll have his work cut out for him in Vegas. With only 5 World Championship points so far, Chambliss prepares for the seventh stop of the season at Las Vegas Speedway in the USA this weekend andhe has one overriding objective: win.

On the other hand, american pilot Michael Goulian, who celebrated his birthday during the last stop at Dallas-Fort Worth (USA) one month ago, took his first solo flight exactly 30 years ago and he never could have imagined that one day he’d be competing in the high-speed, low-altitude action of the world’s fastest motorsport series. But today, he’s not only one of the 12 elite pilots in the battle for the World Championship, but one of the few ever to have stood at the top of an event podium: that was in 2009, and he’s been eager to climb back up there ever since - so far this season, bad luck and airplane issues have kept the hard-working pilot from achieving that goal!

“It’s nice to be in your home country,” says Goulian, who makes his home in Maynard, Massachusetts. “We’re doing a full attack from the very start in Training to find out where the limit is, and then try to go for it every day. We’ve done a lot of preparation for this race because we want to do really well, so I’m very optimistic that we will have a good result.”
