AFCON PEDIGREE:
Burkina Faso's Africa Cup of Nations history has proved a mixed bag, with the country having only featured in one installment between 1962 and 1994. However, they finally found their qualifying stride in 1996 and have featured in all but two of the tournaments since, although their involvement has been limited largely to just the group stages.
The Burkinabes did show their potential in 1998, though, when they earned a fourth-placed finish, while their progression as a footballing nation reached its climax in South Africa 2013 when they took home the silver medal after losing that year's final to Nigeria.
SQUAD OVERVIEW:
Head coach Paul Put has selected just one local-based player in Kadiogo goalkeeper Moussa Fofana, while over half of his squad ply their trade in Europe, including Steve Yago, a defender with French Ligue 1 side Toulouse, and Florent Rouamba of Bastia.
Al-Jazira forward Jonathan Pitroipa claimed the Player of the Tournament award in 2013 and will be involved once again in Equatorial Guinea, while captain Charles Kabore will be determined to once again lead his side to the tournament's showpiece encounter.
