The 2015 Amway Canadian Championship opened its semifinal round last week as the four remaining clubs vie for the Voyageurs Cup and a bid to this year’s CONCACAF Champions League. While a snowstorm postponed the first leg of Vancouver Whitecaps FC and FC Edmonton’s matchup, the Montreal Impact jumped out to a 1-0 aggregate lead on Toronto FC. Jack McInerney scored the lone goal in last Wednesday’s match, which TFC played without stars Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco. Toronto defeated Montreal in both of their league meetings last year, but the Impact topped the Reds in the final of last year’s tournament.
