Sierra Leone’s national team, Leone Stars will start their journey to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with an initial stop in Chad in a two-legged tie of the first round qualifiers for the Russia World Cup, which will commence on the weekend of October 5-13 2015.
The draw which was held on Saturday July 25th saw Sierra Leone, Cameroon and 24 others paired in the first round.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone will have a chance to face former Africa football power-house, Egypt in another two legged contest in the second round of the qualifiers if they do get past Chad.
Among the interesting pairings in the Africa second round were Angola vs. South Africa, the Comoros-Lesotho winner vs. Ghana, the Djibouti-Swaziland winner vs. Nigeria, the Liberia-Guinea-Bissau winner vs. Ivory Coast, the Somalia-Niger winner vs. Cameroon, and the Tanzania-Malawi winner vs. Algeria.
The 13 first round winners advance to the second round where they are joined by 27 other teams. The 20 second round winners go into the third round where they are divided into five groups of four and the winners of each group qualify for the World Cup.
