With fewer than four weeks remaining until the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the United States Women’s National Team kicked off its send-off series with a 3-0 victory against Ireland in a Mother’s Day friendly before a capacity crowd at San Jose’s Avaya Stadium. Abby Wambach notched her 44th career brace in a three-minute span – scoring in the 42nd and 45th minutes – while defender Julie Johnston tacked on the final goal in the 54th minute. The U.S. did not yield a single shot on goal.
