Just days after defeating the Netherlands for the first time ever, the US Men’s National Team wrapped up a historic week by picking up its first ever win on German soil. Bobby Wood’s 87th-minute goal propelled the U.S. past the reigning World Cup champs. MLSers again played key roles in the result. Toronto FC’s Michael Bradley assisted New York City FC’s Mix Diskerud’s equalizer in the 41st minute, and Seattle Sounders FC’s Brad Evans assisted Wood’s game-winner. Real Salt Lake’s Kyle Beckerman and New England’s Juan Agudelo also put in solid 45-minute shifts. The team now sets its sights on defending its 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup title. Jurgen Klinsmann tabbed 20 MLSers for his provisional 35-man roster, including a pair of surprises in LA Galaxy’s Alan Gordon and Houston Dynamo’s DaMarcus Beasley. Gordon, 33, has only one career cap under his belt, though he was on the USA’s 2013 Gold Cup roster. Beasley, meanwhile, is coming out of international retirement for another shot at lifting a trophy for his country. The Dynamo defender leads all active U.S. players with 121 caps.
