New SAFA Technical Director, Neil Tovey has hailed the Association for keeping the National Teams busy saying this augers well for the future of ‘our football.’

Currently, the SAFA U17 Boys national championships are taking place at Nike Centre in Soweto. The tournament kicked off on Tuesday and is scheduled to end on Sunday 12 July 2015.

On the same day, the Women U20 national team, Basetsana will play Botswana in a World Cup qualifier first leg at Dobsonville Stadium. The U20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Papua Guinea next year.

The Boys U17 team, Amajimbos have been in camp for the past week in KwaZulu Natal gearing themselves for the World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Chile in October this year while Owen da Gama’s U23 will square up against Zimbabwe next week on Sunday, 19 July at Rufaro Stadium in a Rio 2016 Olympic qualifier.

Banyana Banyana go into camp this coming Sunday to start preparing for the Olympics qualifying encounter against Kenya next Saturday, 18 July at Dobsonville Stadium.

“This is what we have always said we want; keeping all our national teams and junior football busy. That is what will make us competitive as a nation,” said Tovey.

The new TD said keeping players busy was good for the players to remain in a competitive mode adding that it was imperative for all age groups to do well in every match they played to develop a winning culture.
